Longer trains on 'rail motorway'

SNCF Geodis’s intermodal transport subsidiary, Lorry Rail, this week operated the longest train ever to ply the French rail network. The 850-metre train made the 1,045km journey between Perpignan, near the Spanish border, and Luxembourg with 48 unaccompanied semi-trailers in 24 rail wagons, representing an increase in capacity of more than 33%.  Until now, the length of freight trains crossing France had not exceeded 750 metres.
