New rail bridge between Strasbourg and Kehl operational thanks to EU funding

The new rail bridge spans the river Rhine to connect Strasbourg and Kehl and in doing so makes a new section along the corridor from Paris to Bratislava operational. The building of Kehl Bridge and connecting it to the German rail net will be co-funded by the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) budget with about Euro 25 million, which represents 25% of the costs.

Germany : Inland water transport in 2009: Decrease of turnover: -24%

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office 1,023 enterprises resident in Germany were engaged in inland water transport in mid 2009. These enterprises had 2,604 inland water crafts for the carriage of passengers and goods (-2.1% to 2008), and employed 7,470 (-2.1%) persons in this field of activity. The enterprises engaged in inland water transport achieved in 2009 a turnover of Euro 1.3 billion (-24.1%).
